ABOUT VAUGHAN

A life shaped by business, travel and opportunity.

I grew up on the Isle of Wight, where my first introduction to business came from working in my father's bicycle shop. Watching a family business operate — dealing with customers, solving problems and understanding what makes people come back — gave me an early fascination with business that has stayed with me throughout my life.

Travel became part of my life while I was still a teenager. At 17 I rode a motorbike around Scandinavia; at 18 I travelled Europe in a camper van; and at 21 I went to sea working aboard cruise ships.

AVIATION & ASIA

Taking to the skies.

At 27 I started my flying career and two years later was promoted to Purser. Later, a month-on, month-off arrangement gave me the freedom to start living and commuting from Thailand in 1997. I continued flying until 2007.

Asia gradually became home. Over the years I have been fortunate to work with people from many different countries and backgrounds, and to build experience in property, hospitality and business across Thailand.

BUSINESS IN ASIA

Property, hospitality and going it alone.

While still flying I started a part-time property management and development company on Koh Samui and became involved in a number of substantial projects. After moving to Bangkok in 2007, I managed a highly popular Spanish tapas bar, oversaw construction and opening of a second venue, and became General Manager of the company.

In 2011 I moved to Hua Hin and opened my own restaurant. I ran it for 15 years while also returning to property management and development, overseeing refurbishments, property sales and ongoing management.

The complete experience has been memorable, challenging at times, and above all thoroughly enjoyable.
